Search engine friendly (SEF), or human-readable or clean URLs are URLs that make sense to both humans and search engines because they explain the path to the particular page.

Some content management systems CMSs, delivery non-SEF URLs, and this reduces the SEO or search engine optimisation and also the SET or search engine traffic. There are methods and programs that are used in CMS program to change all URLs to SEFs or if a static site is deployed, then keyword dependant SEF URLs are coded.

SEF URLs are an important method for gaining access to a search engines index, providing the appropriate keywords or keyword phrases are used.
